5. Airbnb is not as split as we believe


The founders of Airbnb, Brian Chesky, Joe Gebbia and Nathan Blecharczyk, said, "Back in August 2008, people thought the Airbnb concept was insane. Strangers will never have confidence in each other. We live in an age of much discord online and in the world, but Airbnb really shows that we are not as divided as we believe we are. It taught us that we are more like ourselves than we are. People are 99 percent the same and statistically, people are basically fine. This idea wouldn't work otherwise."

Airbnb also provides an Open Homes program where homeowners provide those in need of temporary accommodation with extra room for free.




The idea came from a host who wanted to give people displaced by Hurricane Sandy free of charge to their replacement bedrooms.




Since 2012, more than 25,000 people from 52 countries have been helping thousands of displaced persons, first aid workers and refugees looking for transitional refuges.

6. Airbnb's effect on the UK property market


The average income of UK Airbnb hosts, according to airbnbcitizen results, amounts to around GBP 3,100 from a typical 36 nights a year.




A research sponsored by Dr. Margarethe Theseira revealed that Airbnb generated GBP 502 million in one year to the UK economy and supported 11,629 jobs.




In addition, the Airbnb operation is distributed across the UK, with residents from nearly 2500 villages, cities and over 233,000 lists.

In a multibillion-dollar deal, Frankfurt's Patrizia has agreed to buy London's Tamar Capital Group.

Patrizia Immobilien AG (FRA: P1Z), headquartered in Frankfurt, will become one of Europe's largest commercial real estate operators as a result of the transaction. Tamar Capital Group, a London-based real estate investment and asset management firm, has agreed to be purchased by the German firm.
