Five private islands in the spotlight for sale

The biggest sign of status is a private island. The owners are isolated by water from their colleagues – and harsh external realities. When it is surrounded by water, a home becomes a kingdom. home

It is very achievable in terms of personal dreams of the kingdom. The magician David Copperfield owns his own island. Everyone agrees with Richard Branson, Johnny Depp and Mel Gibson.

Hundreds of islands are for sale worldwide at any moment. Analysts believe, however, that the market has suffered in recent years, with rates for a decent island falling by 50% or more. A private island might be the ultimate discretion—no one needs one—and the number of purchasers is limited.

With the exception of the Catar Sheik Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani purchase on six Greek islands, which was about €8.5 million ($11.1 million) earlier this year.

Here is a sample of five private islands that are much cheaper to sell than the Sheik:

Scottish Tanera Mor $3.62 million

A single family has held this 800-acre island 1.5 miles off the north-western coast of Scotland and part of the Summer Isles Archipelago since 1996. Nine residential structures, a café, a post office, and three jetties are on the island. "Your own Scottish Island is very uncommon," said John Bound of the listing agency, CKD Galbraith. "With its growing tourist sector and reputation as a really beautiful location to live, we anticipate much interest when Tanera Mor comes onto the open market."

James Island is a tiny island off the shore of British Columbia in Canada

USD 75 million

Craig McCaw, a millionaire in telecoms, is the owner of a 780 acre full-service Île in the archipelago in the Gulf of Canada. The facilities include an airfield, six guest homes, an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course and a fake western town. It was previously utilized as a farm community, as well as as a "industrial factory and corporate town," according to the description. On 20 percent of the island a natural preserve has been established.

Lady Hamilton Isle of South Africa, Port Alfred

$ 1.36 million

The only private island in the construction of the Royal Alfred Marina on South Africa's Sunshine Coast. The island is more than 3,800 square meters split. According to the list, "you might give various owners freehold titles and create your own group." On the property, a mansion with a pool, a tennis court and a clubhouse was constructed by the previous owner. However, the structure was destroyed by a fire.

Petra Island of New York

Total $19.9 million

On Mahopac Lake, the 11 acre island has generated controversy in the architectural community. The main structure was built by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, based on announcements for the island, who claimed that the home once exceeded his well-known Falling Water. In 2008 the new owner engaged an architect to bring plans to life, a technique which purists believe disqualifies the home as a "Frank Lloyd Wright." Wright designs the house, but never finished it. A cottage of 1,200 square feet, on the other hand, was designed and built in the 1950s.

Sandy Cay Abaco is a little island off the Bahamas coast.

Total $10.9 million

On an 8-acre island in the Abaco Sea a resort was constructed. The island, 45 minutes away from Miami, features deep water docks, a diving shop and, according to the list, a 5,400 m2 main home. Something's there, however. In close proximity to Man O War Cay, five ships, a 6,000 gallon reverse osmosis water maker per day and a 15,000 square-foot plot with two docks and a boat elevator are offered.
